Cambodia: Community Projects

IMG_2494

The education system in Cambodia is fraught with difficulties. Being a state-school teacher is not a well-paid job, so oftentimes teachers have to teach private classes to earn extra income. As a result, many teachers withhold the ends of lessons in their regular state-school classes to encourage students toward private tutoring.  If students want to pass the state exam and move on to the next grade, they must pay for such private classes.

In a country where most students can’t afford a pencil and notebook, Trivani Foundation has established a series of free education-based programs to help marginalized students prepare for higher education (for details on these programs, check out Dimang’s most recent quarterly report).
